Biography

Gail Broder joined the NIAID-funded HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), based at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, in 2003 and serves as the Associate Director of the Social and Behavioral Science & Community Engagement Unit. Gail works with and supports educators and community members at over 70 HIV vaccine trial sites around the globe as they educate communities and raise awareness about biomedical HIV prevention and recruit participants into preventive HIV vaccine and monoclonal antibody trials, as well as TB vaccine trials. She is a regular presenter on the Community Engagement work conducted by the HVTN, and has authored and co-authored numerous posters and papers in major medical journals and scientific conferences.

Gail leads efforts to improve the use of layperson-friendly and gender-inclusive language in Informed Consent and related study materials, and serves on the Cross Network Transgender Working Group at the NIAID Division of AIDS. Since March, 2020, Gail serves in the same role with the COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN), which is the Operations Center for the US government-funded COVID-19 vaccine studies, working with over 200 global clinical trial sites. She obtained her Masters Degree in Health Science with emphasis in Health Education from Washington University in St. Louis.
